Who they are...
Inner-City Arts offers a safe, creative space where students are invited to explore.
Inner-City Arts' beautiful, award-winning campus is a source of inspiration to all who visit. During the school day, after school and on weekends, elementary, middle and high school students come to Inner-City Arts to work with professional teaching artists in well-equipped studios, receiving hands-on instruction in a range of subject areas within the visual, performing and media arts.
Equally essential to Inner-City Arts' mission, the Inner-City Arts Professional Development Institute provides experiential training for educators, university students, school administrators, and others dedicated to bringing high-quality arts education to students of all ages and backgrounds.
Inner-City Arts also supports student achievement and community growth by engaging families and members of the community through programs, performances, and events hosted in the state-of-the-art Rosenthal Theater.
What they do...
In a unique partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District and local charter schools, in addition to schools around the country, elementary and middle school students and their classroom teachers are linked to Inner-City Arts for experiential instruction in the visual and performing arts during their school day.
Inner-City Arts' Visual, Media & Performing Arts Institutes offer self-select after-school and weekend classes to middle and high school students, as well as 4th & 5th graders. Every class, no matter the art form, provides students with a valuable opportunity for creative exploration, performance (sharing work), individual and group study, mentorship with professional teaching artists, and career-development support.
Work of Art is a college and career exploration program designed to prepare teens with the skills, training, and real-world experience necessary to prepare them for life beyond high school. Eligible teens are high school sophomore and juniors that have an interest in exploring a career in the arts and the creative economy, and a desire for mentorship.
